Legacy Circle

Changing Lives, Creating Futures

Did you know that no one is ever turned away from the Boothbay Region YMCA for inability to pay? It’s true. We believe in strengthening individuals, families, and the community through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. The generosity of many enables us to provide financial assistance where a need exists and, in turn, impact lives and create a legacy of service to others.

The Legacy Circle is an important part of this work. Members of the Legacy Circle are those who have included the Y in their estate plan or who have contributed to our investment fund during their lifetime. Assets bequeathed to the Y through estate plans and wills, life insurance policies, gifts of stocks and bonds, IRA distributions, cash gifts, and other means provide investment funds that generate income to support initiatives that give our community opportunities to thrive.

Each year, we look at the most pressing issues facing our community and work to develop programs to help solve some of them. We have recently added evidence-based health initiatives including Rock Steady Boxing that empowers people living with Parkinson’s Disease to build power, strength, flexibility, and balance to enhance their quality of life and fight back against this disease. The Diabetes Prevention Program helps adults at risk of developing Type 2 diabetes adopt and maintain healthier lifestyles to reduce their risk factors. With your support, we will continue to add programs like Blood Pressure Self-Monitoring, Healthy Weight and Your Child to combat childhood obesity, and the Pedaling for Parkingson's program.

Our programs for youth and teens emphasize healthy life choices, develop leadership and confidence, foster a spirit of service, and challenge young people to achieve their potential and become change-makers in their communities.

For seniors, our Y has become a place for community, with conversation around coffee, wellness classes to build strength and balance, specialized classes to reduce the risk of a fall, and personal training to recover after an injury or to minimize the effects of a disease. We are committed to helping area seniors age in place and maintain their health through the aging process.

Together, we are taking on many of the greatest challenges facing our youth, our health, and our region. From alleviating hunger to supporting addiction recovery to offering wellness programming that changes lives, the Boothbay Region YMCA works to build a brighter future for our community. And we are making a difference—thanks to committed supporters like you. Your support makes it possible for our organization to exist and makes our community a special place. Joining the Legacy Circle is an important way to invest in our work and ensure long-term support of our impact on this community.
